Vacation Packing List

Packing a suitcase for a 10 day vacay, is kind of like packing a party, in a suitcase. Right?Below are some simple packing guidelines I stick to when I start loading up my bags.

1. Consider the weather. Is it going to get chilly at night? Have you checked the forecast for rain? A rainy vacation is not ideal but you want to be prepared. Rain or shine!

2. The Layered Effect. Bring pieces you can layer up or use in multiple ways. Cover-ups that can be used as sundresses, a maxi that can be worn at night with a statement necklace.

3. SPF & Sunnies. Protect your skin from the sun. I swore off sun about 2 years ago; 2 years too late. Usually the shelf life of SPF is about a year; so if you brought it on your vacation last year, you better toss it.

4. Travel Size. This is will make your life SO MUCH easier. I promise. Find a local drug store and stock up on travel sized toiletries.  It will gave you so much extra space in your suitcase.

5. Book & Reading Materials. ...maybe the latest episode of GOT, not kidding. Pick up a good book, something you can drive into and really enjoy. And of course, the staples: US Weekly, InStyle, People :)

Office Space

Sooo... What does your office space look like? I'm in loving this beautifully decorated office by @Ashleyelladeisgn. It is a great inviting color scheme, it actually makes me want to work!

Black and white offers a perfect canvas to add pops of color or metallics.

Green Parties!

Who is planning a green inspired party this weekend due to St. Patty's Day?

Anything from mini cupcakes, the recent craze 'cake pops' or customized popcorn boxes. Whatever your desire, make sure to add some green food coloring! #happystpattysday

Great ideas from Pepper Design Blog.

How To: Decorate your Mantel

First things first, have you picked a theme? I find it easier to start decorating with I have decided what my theme or design scheme is going to be. Below is a snap shot of my home mantel; it is creative and random touches of inspirations but hold a modern feel

1. Find a center piece or focus point. This could be a mirror, large frame, clock. It must be something that draws in your attention; really grabs your audience.

2. Balance with height. Find pieces that help bring the center full-circle. Example above: both side pieces really bring height to the mantel.

3. Add a pop of color or shine. This could be a vasa, frame or piece of art. I love using metallic's, especially in living rooms. The sunlight bounces off the metallic and brings in more natural light.

5. Photos. This is one place in your home you are fully allowed to show off family, friends, loved ones, places you've traveled, etc. Go ahead, show off!
